My wife would say nothing takes precedence over FBLA-PBL! Although that's not totally true, I have spent over 40 years with the organization and take the responsibilities with the local, state, and national levels very seriously.
I came from Winfield, West Virginia, to North Carolina's Stanly Community College as the Public Information Officer and Communications instructor, and it was through the Business Communications course I became a PBL adviser. As the school grew and the job was divided, I chose the full-time instructor position so I could continue with PBL.
After serving as the state Conference Director, in 2006 I became State Adviser. Highlights of my involvement would be working with the state and national officers from the Stanly chapter, working with chapter's Parliamentary Procedure teams, serving on the national Board of Directors, and, most importantly, sharing with the many many outstanding leaders in North Carolina and across the country.
At SCC, I am now working in the office of the Vice President of Student Success over-seeing the student organizations and directing campus activities -- with PBL advising still a top priority!
I have two sons and three grandchildren -- and proud to say that one of them was a finalist in his state FBLA competition for 2020!
Sharon and I are active church members, having previously served as youth leaders and on-going choir members.
Although I enjoy looking back at memorable FBLA-PBL experiences, I look forward to the future of the organization and being a part of advancing its mission and goals.
